Sonia Schreiber Weitz, a Holocaust survivor, was remembered yesterday as a quiet hero who spent decades traveling from her beloved North Shore home to change the hearts of thousands of schoolchildren.
“She was a very special lady who worked very hard for the purpose of remembrance,” said Nobel laureate and Boston University professor Elie Wiesel.
