Paul Alan Hunter (14 October 1978 – 9 October 2006) was an English snooker player. He was a three-time Masters champion. He won the event in 2001, 2002, and 2004.
He also won three ranking events. He won the Welsh Open in 1998 and 2002 and the British Open in 2002.

Hunter's nickname was the "Beckham of the Baize". This was because of his good looks were similar to David Beckham. He died in 2006 due to cancer. He made 114 century breaks.

Early life
[change | change source]Hunter was born on 14 October 1978 in Leeds, England. He went to St Andrews Primary School and Cardinal Heenan High School. Aged nine, he was given an award for being the best best junior snooker player of the year.
He went to Bradford to practise with professional Joe Johnson. Aged 14, he won the English Doubles Championship with Richard Brooke.[2] Hunter went professional in July 1995 at the age of 16.[3][2][4&
